A Cost-Benefit Model for Employee Wellbeing Programmes
The Swiss TPH offers a powerful tool to prioritize productivity losses from employee health problems

Patrick Hanlon of the SySU Health Economics and Financing Group was invited to give a guest lecture at the University of Nairobi School of Economics. He presented the GIZ-commissioned Cost Benefit Projection Model for Employee Health Programmes to the Health Economics Masters students and numerous other interested participants. The model was well-received and the discussion was very enthusiastic and extensive. It is foreseen that some of these students will assist in piloting the model in several large private companies and public institutions in Kenya as part of GIZ-promoted employee health programmes. The students will assist by following up the implementation of the model in the pilot organizations. They will monitor its utilization and guide the collection of relevant data for comparison with the model estimates of the health problems of the employees, as well as support the actual cost-benefit analysis of interventions designed in the model.
